CATEGORIES
The Shannons Adelaide Rally consists of multiple competitive and non-competitive categories, including the single-day Prima Tour and three-day Main Tour, Spirit Tour, Challenge 130 and 120 and Competition, as detailed below. CLICK HERE for frequently asked questions around entries.

prima tour
- First four stages of the rally - Friday 16 October
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 100km/h
- Untimed and non-competitive
- Open to all road-registered cars
- No helmets required for driver and navigator
- Non flammable clothing - neck to wrist to ankle
- Additional cost for Motorsport Australia Speed License
- Long lunch included.
main tour
- Same course and activities as main competition
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 100km/h
- Untimed and non-competitive
- Open to all road-registered cars
- No helmets required for driver and navigator
- Non flammable clothing - neck to wrist to ankle
- Additional cost for Motorsport Australia Speed Licence
- Can swap driving duties with navigator by application in entry system and small fee
payable
SPIRIT TOUR
- Same course and activities as main competition
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 120km/h
- Untimed and non-competitive
- Open to all closed roof road-registered cars
- Pre-1986 cars must have Type 2 half roll cage
- Helmets required for driver and navigator
- Non flammable clothing - neck to wrist to ankle
- Additional cost for Motorsport Australia Speed Licence if not already held
- RallySafe kit required
TSD
- ‘TSD’ (Time-Speed-Distance) with aim to match target time
- Awards for first to third
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 120km/h
- Open to all closed roof, road-registered cars
- Pre-1986 cars must have Type 2 half roll cage
- Helmets required for driver and navigator
- Non flammable clothing required- neck to wrist to ankle
- Additional cost for Motorsport Australia Speed Licence if not already held
- RallySafe kit required
CHALLENGE 120
- Same rules as Challenge 130 including freedoms to turbochargers and modifications
- Awards for first to third
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 120km/h
- Over 50% of stages timed, others driven as per Spirit Tour - stages here

- Full race kit including race suit, helmet, HANS and more - see regulations
- Motorsport Australia Speed Licence required

CHALLENGE 130
- Same rules as Competition with additional freedoms to turbochargers and modifications

- Closed roads are travelled at up to 130km/h
- Reference Supplementary Regulations for car eligibility
- Cars require Type 3 full roll cage
- Full race kit including race suit, helmet, HANS and more - see regulations
- Motorsport Australia national Rally License required
- RallySafe kit required
COMPETITION
- Awards for first to third
- Closed roads are travelled at up to 200km/h
- Reference Supplementary Regulations for car eligibility
- Cars require Type 3 full roll cage
- Full race kit including race suit, helmet, HANS and more - see regulations
- Motorsport Australia national Rally License required with Tarmac Rally Category A endorsement
