CATEGORIES
The Shannons Adelaide Rally consists of multiple competitive and non-competitive categories, which will be as per the following:
prima tour - $595 (TBC)
The Shannons Prima Tour follows the first stages of the Friday. Total distance travelled is approximately 150km. This is the event for you if you want to have a great day out on the roads without competition pressure before a long table lunch at the National Motor Museum. Closed roads are travelled at up to 100kmh, with the freedom to use both sides of the road. Additional cost for Motorsport Australia Speed License.
main tour - $2695 (TBC)
Run on the same course and including the same activities as the main competition. Vehicles will be limited to 100km/h whilst on all closed road stages. All vehicles in this category will be speed monitored. Entry is open to modern and classic cars with current registration. The Main Tour incorporates various manufacturer tour groups.
SPIRIT TOUR - $2995 (TBC)
The category is non-competitive and untimed. Vehicles will follow the same course and include the same activities as the main competition. Vehicles will be limited to 120km/h whilst on closed road stages. Crew must wear helmets approved by Motorsport Australia when undertaking any closed road section. All vehicles in this category will be monitored by Rallysafe.
TSD - $2995 (TBC)
A ‘TSD’ (Time-Speed-Distance) category in which entrants will aim to match a target time set by the clerk of course. Penalties are applied against minimum and maximum speeds, as well as for arriving early or late of the allocated target time. The category will be limited to 120km/h with average speed targets of 70km/h or less. Crew must wear helmets approved by Motorsport Australia when undertaking any closed road section. All vehicles in this category will be monitored by Rallysafe.
CHALLENGE 130 - $3995 (tbc)
Based on the same year of build and rules as the Competition category but with additional freedoms in respect to turbochargers and modifications and simplified full-roll cage requirements . There is a 130km/h speed limit on all closed road stages. Challenge participants will follow the same course and include the same activities as the Competition category. Awards for first to third. Fastest time wins.
COMPETITION - $4400 (tbc)
Vehicles will be limited to 200km/h whilst on closed road stages. with driver skill and mechanical performance determining the winners. No handicap system will be used, with two sub-categories of classic (1st January 1900 to 1st January 1986) and modern (1st January 1986 to current). Awards for 1st -3rd . Fastest time wins.
Competition category crews who reside outside of South Australia are eligible for the Adelaide Tourist Trophy.
With the Adelaide Rally being renowned for its highly technical stages that are serpentine, tight and challenging, the event already attracts nearly 20% of its field from interstate.
The TT provides an even greater incentive to compete and rewards those from outside the state who rank highest in results with a half metre high trophy which will be awarded to both the fastest Classic and Modern crews residing outside of South Australia.
